The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland was formed by the union of the Kingdom of Great Britain and the Kingdom of Ireland in 1800. The union was facilitated by the decision of the Irish Parliament, in Dublin, in August 1800, to vote in favor of the union passing the Union Act of 1800.
